Key Accountabilities:

Manage databases for production support and new projects.
Assist in the team effort to maximize the availability, security, and performance of the databases.
Responsible for the configuration, planning, and installation of Oracle servers.
Monitor performance and the capacity of the databases supported.
Performance tune and load balance the servers.
Perform routine maintenance, including database rebuilds, re-indexing, expansions, and archiving.
Troubleshoot Oracle server problems and assist in the resolution of application issues.
Facilitate server upgrades and conversions.
Assist in promotions, data conversions, back-up, and recovery of local and remote replicated databases.
Provide database administration support to development and implementation projects.
Load the database and test the applications on the server.
Prepare change control documentation.
Utilize strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
Carry a pager and be on call for after-hours support of Scotiabank’s database administration.
Participate in a team rotation to support 24/7 operations.
Provide remote dial-in support and occasional on-site support in response to routine monitoring alerts, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks.
Handle events that occur after hours and on weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Five years of experience as an Oracle DBA.
Five years of experience with Oracle 9i, 10g, 11g, and 12c.
Five years of experience with Sun Solaris system and utilities.
Five years of experience with device configuration, installation, and stored procedures.
Five years of experience with clustering and database replication.
Five years of experience with database rebuild and de-fragmentation techniques.
Five years of experience with logical and physical backup, along with recovery techniques.
Five years of experience with application-side tuning versus server-side tuning.
Experience with the use of Oracle RAC, OLAP, OWB, OEM, Perl, MS-SQL, and Sybase is an asset to the role.

1+ years of professional experience with MongoDB Experience with MongoDB query optimization.

Experience configuring, deploying, and optimizing MongoDB clusters capable of handling several hundred terabytes of data.

Experience in deploying and maintaining large-scale production environments in AWS and in agile software development.
